Gathering resources is an important task in New World, as many crafting systems require a ton of materials to get to the highest-tier items. If weapons, armor, and other modern devices are desired, players will need many metals, stones, and other minable minerals.
To start mining in New World, there is an order in which players must attain them, as each kind of Ore requires increasingly higher Mining skill levels to gather. The same can be said for tracking them. There are nine kinds of Ore to find in New World, and here's how to get them all.
Mining Low-Tier Ores (Iron Ore, Silver Ore, & Oil)
Iron Ore: You'll find iron ore veins in the Highlands sections of the map. In general, iron ore will be found in higher spots and near rocky hills and caves. You do not require any specific stat to mine Iron Ore. It can be gathered right from the start of the game. Players will need a Mining skill level of 25 before Iron Ore becomes trackable on the compass at the top of the player's screen.
Silver Ore: If you are trying to get silver in New World, you can start gathering it at level 10 in mining, and if you level it further to level 35, you can start tracking it on your map.
Oil: To make things easier, you should beef up your Mining trade skill to 45. At 20, you'll get the ability to gather oil, but at 45, you also get the ability to track it. When you do, the nodes will start appearing as markers on the compass at the top of the screen. This will make finding them in the dark, mushy area much easier.
Mining Mid-Tier Ores (Gold Ore, Alchemy Stones, & Starmetal Ore)
Gold Ore: Gold Ore is a high-tier crafting material found across New World's regions in making more delicate and expensive pieces of gear. Gold Ore can be mined by players only after their Mining skill level reaches 45 and can be tracked at level 70.
Alchemy Stone: These partially-levitating stones are of particular interest to aspiring alchemists, so those seeking to brew potions from self-harvested ingredients may need to consider leveling up their Mining skills, as it will take until level 50 before they can be gathered Alchemy Stones. Furthermore, players will unlock the ability to track Alchemy Stonesat at level 75.
Starmetal Ore: Starmetal Ore is obtained from mining a Starmetal Vein using a pickaxe with mining level 100. This blue Ore will be easy to pick out among other rocks due to its bright coloration visually. Tracking it down will take until level 125.
Mining High-Tier Ores (Lodestone, Platinum Ore, & Orichalcum Ore)
Lodestone: Lodestone ore is a rare high-tier resource primarily found in corners and along the borders of the regions in New World. A Mining level of 105 is necessary for collecting Lodestone and tracked starting at level 155.
Platinum Ore: Platinum is a valuable and durable metal that New World players will use for crafting high-level jewelry and powerful Engineering and Arcana weaponry. To smelt the ingots needed for crafting equipment, players first have to reach a mining level 110 to acquire the platinum ore, and it becomes much easier with a tracked starting level of 135.
Orichalcum Ore: This vibrant red Ore almost looks beautiful. Orichalcum Ore can be gathered starting after one's Mining skill level reaches 175. Keep in mind that it will take until level 200 to track this rarest of metals.
